Noise

The information explains which noise issues we can investigate, which ones we can not, and how residents can report noise concerns.

When a noise assessment may be required

When submitting a planning application, it is important to assess any potential noise impacts linked to your proposal.

You may need to include a noise assessment.

  • If you are planning a development that could generate significant noise near noise‑sensitive buildings, such as homes, schools or hospitals
  • If you are proposing a noise‑sensitive development, such as housing, near an existing noise source

These assessments help us understand how the development may affect nearby residents or how existing noise may affect future occupants.
