The information explains which noise issues we can investigate, which ones we can not, and how residents can report noise concerns.

Submit a noise complaint

We investigate noise problems reported by residents, including issues from neighbours, businesses, industrial sites and construction activity. Excessive or frequent noise can be very disruptive, and we are here to help when it becomes a problem.

The Noise App allows you to record noise disturbances on your smartphone or tablet and send them directly to us as part of your complaint.

You will need an email address to register. After signing up, select Luton Borough Council as your service provider. 

If you cannot use the app or if you prefer to report noise issues by phone, you can call Customer Services:

  • Monday to Friday (except Wednesdays): 9am to 5pm
  • Wednesday: 10am to 5pm

Noise issues we can not advise

Some types of noise are outside our control or are considered normal everyday activity. We cannot assist with:

  • Aircraft noise 
  • Children playing
  • Poor sound insulation between properties
  • Everyday household noises, such as doors closing or lights being switched on
  • People causing noise in the street
  • Traffic noise
