What to put in your recycling bin
When sorting your recycling for collection, you can include:
- mixed paper – including loose shredded paper, newspapers, books, directories and envelopes
- cardboard – including cereal boxes, egg boxes and cardboard boxes
- food tins and drink cans
- empty aerosols
- clean aluminium foil
- juice and milk cartoons or tetra packs
- plastic bottles and containers – including shampoo, washing-up liquid, milk, fizzy drink and water bottles, bleach and cleaning products bottles, cooking oil bottles, detergent and fabric conditioner bottles, tubs, trays, fruit punnets and yoghurt pots – you can leave lids and tops attached
Remember:
- wash, squash and recycle
- if in doubt, leave it out
- place your items in the recycling bin loose
- do not use plastic bags

What not to include
Do not include:
- nappies
- black bags or rubbish
- food waste
- wood and garden waste
- building waste
- rubble, hardcore or soil
- glass bottles and jars
- other glass, including mirrors, plates and glasses
- polystyrene
- carpets, mattresses and furniture
- plastic bags, other plastic packaging or rigid plastic
- rigid plastic like toys
- household batteries
- small electrical appliances
