Tenant Partnership board
Often known as the tenant board, we are the most formal and involved tenant group working with council housing services. Members must meet a recruitment process to join the board of involved council tenants and leaseholders from across the town. Our role is to comment on issues and any proposed changes that affect council housing services.
We meet regularly face to face to discuss:
- meeting the housing regulators requirements
- monitoring housing service performance and complaints
- debate and sign off tenant facing strategies, policies or papers due for formal council approval
- making sure tenant and leaseholders views are heard and considered
We work closely with the housing portfolio holder and housing service managers. Board members need to bring a wide range of skills and experience to their and one of our aims is to make sure tenants and leaseholders views are heard and considered.
During 2023 to 2024 we consulted us on key housing service changes, and we helped to shape decisions made that affect you all. This included how housing budgets should be spent and developing ways to use learning from complaints to improve housing services.
We also use survey results as a starting point for more investigation, and often pass this task over to the tenant scrutiny panel. We have strong links with the scrutiny panel and work with them to help ensure their review outcomes are heard and where possible acted upon.

Get involved with the board
The board can provide a perfect role for tenants and leaseholders with a keen interest in social housing and working in a more formal setting. The board needs committed members with the skills and knowledge to be able to commit to this challenging, yet rewarding and important role. There is an application process for this role.
Once you have contacted the team, they pledge to get in touch with yourself within five working days.

Anyone can make a difference no matter who they are. In the coming year we will be strengthening our role, our membership and our knowledge, as we seek to promote our position more effectively with tenants and help ensure the council meet all requirements under housing regulation.
