The law gives you the right to ask for information held by us. This is called freedom of information or FOI.
Request information about you
To request personal information that we hold about you, go to make a subject access request.
Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) requests
You can ask us to disclose information about environmental matters too, for example information about:
- land development
- pollution levels
- energy production
- waste management
These will be handled under the Environmental Information Regulations (EIR).
On this page, we will use 'information request' to cover both FOI and EIR.

Before you submit a request
Before making a request, we recommend that you check:
- if the information you're looking for is already published in our publication scheme
- what makes a valid request – Information Commissioner’s Office
Some environmental information is available, but its disclosure incurs a cost and will not be released without charge under EIR. If you wish to search the Local Land Register, please see our page on local land charges.
