After you make a freedom of information request
We aim to acknowledge your requests within three working days.
If your request for information:
- is clear and the information can be provided, then you should receive a response within 20 working days of the request being received
- is already published, we'll tell you where it is and how you can get a copy
- is not clear, then we may need to ask you for more information to clarify your request. We'll write to you as soon as possible to do this
Where we seek clarification, the time limit to respond starts when we've received an adequate response from you.
If we ask you to clarify your request and we do not hear from you, the request will be closed after three weeks.
Complex requests
Complex requests may take longer than 20 working days to process. If we think this is likely to be the case, we'll tell you why and let you know how long we think it will take to deal with your request.
Charges
There may be a charge depending on the type of information you request, for example Local Land Charges search fees.
