Park sports
If you enjoy bowls, cricket, football, rugby or tennis, there are many parks and recreation grounds in Luton where you can take part in these activities.
Bowls
Bowling greens are available from the last full weekend in April until the first Sunday in October, depending on weather conditions. You can play bowls at:
- Lancaster Avenue recreation ground
- Memorial Park
Cricket
Cricket squares are available at the following locations:
- Crawley Green recreation ground
- Icknield recreation ground
- Lancaster Avenue recreation ground
- Leagrave Park (two squares)
- Luton Regional / Stopsley recreation ground (three squares)
- Wardown Park (lower sports ground)
Football and rugby
Luton has more than 60 football and rugby pitches across its parks, offering adult, junior and mini‑soccer options as well as Gaelic pitches, with football and rugby played from September to April and the Gaelic season running from March to October. There are lots of pitches in Luton's parks and recreation grounds, including ones at:
- Icknield recreation ground
- Leagrave Park
- Lewsey Park
- Stockwood Park
Pitches are available for adult, junior, mini‑soccer and Gaelic/camogie games. For details on prices and how to book, please visit the football and rugby pitches webpage.
Tennis
Tennis courts are available in the following parks:
- Wardown Park
- Memorial Park
- Lewsey Park
- Lancaster Avenue
Courts in Wardown, Memorial and Lewsey parks are locked and must be booked in advance to prevent non tennis use. There is an annual charge of £40 to book courts. Membership allows online booking and provides a unique access code for each session. Visit Luton Parks Tennis for membership and booking information.

VAT exempt prices are shown in brackets. Contact the Parks Facilities Unit for information on VAT exemption requirements.
Football, association rugby and gaelic
Match fees (per game):
- Under 18: £22.80 (£19)
- 18 and over: £76.80 (£64)
Two hour training session:
- Under 18: £15.60 (£13)
- 18 and over: £25.20 (£21)
Mini soccer (7‑ or 5‑a‑side):
- Under 18: £14.40 (£12)
Discounts for adult teams:
- 10% reduction if showers are unavailable
- 20% reduction if other facilities are unavailable and/or no attendant present
Cricket matches
Day games (up to 6 hours):
- Under 18: £19.20 (£16)
- 18 and over: £74.40 (£62)
Changing and kitchen facilities included.
Midweek evening games (up to 3 hours):
- Under 18: £10.80 (£9 without facilities)
- 18 and over: £38.40 (£32 without facilities)
Additional 30 minutes:
- Under 18: £10.80 (£9)
- 18 and over: £19.20 (£16)
Discounts:
- 10% discount for 20 over games or if indoor facilities are unavailable
Cricket tournaments
All day hire (per pitch):
- includes pavilion with changing and kitchen facilities
- no attendant provided
- additional £63 for litter collection (litter must be bagged)
- final prices available on request
Additional important information:
- public liability insurance must be purchased separately by clubs or teams.
- extra markings or wickets will incur additional charges.
Fitness sessions
For commercial use of park areas for fitness or training sessions:
- Under 18: £20 per session
- 18 and over: £27 per session
