Urgent help for carers
The Emergency Duty Team (EDT) in Luton provides out-of-hours social care support for urgent situations that cannot wait until the next working day.
For emergencies regarding children or adults, telephone: 0300 300 8123. This service operates evenings, weekends, and bank holidays. If someone is in immediate danger, call the police on 999.

Home fire safety
Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue offer free home fire safety visits for vulnerable people, such as those who:
- are over 65
- live alone
- have a disability or dependency
- have adult social care needs
On a visit, the team will assess the home for fire safety, including your gas and electrical appliances, access and escape routes, and smoke alarms.
They can also offer advice regarding falls, smoking and make referrals where needed.
