Additional support for carers in Luton

If you care for someone, you may be able to get a one‑off payment to support your own health and wellbeing.

A carer’s direct payment can be used for something that helps you. For example, joining a gym, taking up a hobby, or buying equipment that makes your caring role easier (like a washing machine to save time). It cannot be used for the person you care for.

You do not need to apply separately.

During your carer’s assessment, tell the assessor what support you need for your wellbeing. If eligible, you may be offered a carer’s direct payment.
