Political leadership
The Council is controlled by a coalition made up of the Liberal Democrat, Independent Alliance, and Conservative groups.
The Leader of the Council and of the Executive is Councillor Amjid Ali, the leader of the Liberal Democrat group.
The leader of the:
- Independent Alliance is Councillor Rob Roche
- Conservative Group is Councillor Aslam Khan
- Labour Group is Councillor Tahmina Saleem, which forms the official opposition.

The council is made up of:
- 21 Labour councillors
- 13 Liberal Democrat councillors
- 7 Independent Alliance councillors
- 3 Conservative councillors
- 3 Non-aligned Independent councillors
- 1 Reform UK councillor
All 48 councillors attend Full Council.
