Intermittent telephone issues
We are currently experiencing issues with our telephone lines. This is being investigated urgently and we apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused you. We will provide updates as soon as possible.
What to do if your child has not been offered a place at your preferred school(s), how waiting lists and appeals work, and the steps to take if your child cannot remain at their current school.
A decision letter will be sent to you.
Your request will be processed as quickly as possible, normally within 10 to 15 school days and you'll be notified in writing to confirm whether a place is available. If you have not received any correspondence after 10 to 15 school days, contact the Admissions team.
Once your child has been allocated a place, he or she will be expected to start at the school within five school days of receiving the offer letter. If the place is not taken up within this time, it may be withdrawn and given to another child.
It is important that you read the information in this guidance for the respective school type to pursue a place at your preferred school or schools and how the appeal process works for:
If your child has been allocated a place at your second or third preference school, the school will be in contact with you in due course regarding admission arrangements.
Notify the Admissions team in writing if you no longer require the place allocated for your child. If you are happy with the school that has been allocated to your child and do not wish to remain on the waiting list for any higher preference school(s), you must notify the Admissions team immediately.
School places are offered on the understanding that you will be responsible for any transport arrangements that may be necessary and that brothers and sisters do not gain automatic admission to the school in future years.
You should check:
If your child has not been allocated a place at any of your preferred schools and is unable to continue at their current school, you must complete an alternative school reply slip.
Failure to complete the alternative school reply slip will delay the processing of your child’s in-year application and your case may be referred to the Children Missing Education team.
You have the right of appeal against the decision not to offer your child a place at your preferred schools. We encourage you complete and submit an online appeal. The online appeal process is both quick and easy.
For information relating to the school admissions appeal process, together with the appeal form, read our appeals process for school admissions page.
