Planning and organising an event

When you need to apply for a licence, choosing a safe and suitable venue for your event, completing a risk assessment, noise control, road closures and getting insurance.

Health and safety

Any event held on public land must be safe for everyone. You will need to:

  • complete a risk assessment
  • consider the risks to staff, volunteers and visitors
  • identify ways to reduce or manage those risks

You must also contact the police to discuss your event, as they may not automatically be able to offer support.
