When we offer accommodation
If you are homeless and have a priority need, we will offer you emergency or temporary accommodation whilst we:
- investigate your situation
- decide whether we have a duty to help you with longer term housing
What to expect
You can expect to be in temporary accommodation for many months. You may also have to move to other temporary addresses in this time.
Choices of emergency and temporary accommodation are severely limited. It could be a room in a hotel, a bed and breakfast a hostel or refuge, a self contained flat or accommodation out of the borough. We cannot offer a choice of where you will live.
You will be responsible for cost of this accommodation. You can check if you can claim benefits to help on GOV.UK.
Our staff will tell you the rules when you move in to your temporary home.
Temporary accommodation allocations process
This documents sets out our process for the placement of households in temporary accommodation both in and out of the borough.
