Designing for community safety in a quality environment

The supplementary planning guidance (SPG) in our 'designing for community safety in a quality environment' document provides comprehensive guidelines to help developers in achieving community safety and a quality environment in Luton, through design.
This SPG deals with actions which can be taken within the physical environment to reduce crime, antisocial behaviour and the fear of crime. The guidance:
- takes account of related issues associated with other kinds of physical safety
- provides guidelines for the delivery of a quality environment overall
- focuses on new development but also addresses issues related to existing premises
