Parking scams
We've been made aware of two parking scams in Luton.
Text message scam
People have reported receiving text message, asking them to click a link to pay a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN).
We will never contact you by text message. All of our notifications are sent by post for all parking, moving traffic and bus lane notices. Do not click the link as this is not from a valid source.
QR code scam
We're also aware of a QR code scam which uses a fake QR code on our Pay and Display machines or Pay by Phone signs.
We do not use QR codes for people to pay for parking.
Either use a pay machine, the PaybyPhone app or call the number we've advertised.
Do not scan these QR codes as they are not from a valid source.
What to do if you have been a victim of a scam
If you've been a victim of any scam:
- report it to Action Fraud
- contact your bank
