New social, emotional and mental health special school for Luton

Luton Council has exciting plans to build a specialist school to support pupils aged 9-16 years with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) special needs. This will be the first school of its kind in the town and will help meet growing demand.

Luton leads the way in tackling rogue traders offering poor-quality home insulation

Luton Council welcomes the recent decision by the government to tackle the widespread issue of poor-quality solid wall insulation on residents’ homes. The council has been at the forefront of advocating for further investigations and stronger consumer protections.

 

The government has immediately suspended 39 businesses​ from installing new solid wall insulation, also stating that those responsible for defective work must rectify their installations at no cost to affected households.

Luton council furious at Vauxhall closure confirmation

Luton Council is extremely disappointed and angry at Stellantis’ decision to close Luton’s Vauxhall plant after numerous options put forward to keep the plant open were rejected.

Since Vauxhall owner Stellantis made the announcement late last year that they intended to shut the site, the council has worked closely with the trade unions, local MPs and government to offer what they all believed were viable ways to save the plant and the jobs.
