More than 50 Luton roads improved as resurfacing programme continues

Working with its highways maintenance contractor, VolkerHighways, the council is investing £7.2 million in Luton’s roads this year, targeting those most in need of attention. The work helps improve road condition, extend the life of the network and reduce the need for more extensive repairs in the future.

There is still more to come, with a further 83,280 square metres across 31 roads due to be resurfaced or treated over the coming weeks, with work continuing into October and early November.

Councillor Javeria Hussain, Cabinet Member for Highways and Sustainable Development, said: “Our road network plays a vital role in keeping Luton moving. We’re dedicated to investing in our roads to help ensure residents can travel safely and reliably across the town.

“We’ve already completed a significant amount of work across Luton this year, with further treatments planned over the coming weeks. We know roadworks can cause some disruption while they are taking place, and we thank residents and road users for their patience.”

The full programme of resurfacing and surface treatment works, including roads that have been completed and those still to be treated, is available on the council’s website.

Where required, diversion routes will be in place and residents are urged to allow extra time for their journey.
