The Macmillan Luton Cancer Community Engagement Project - phase two 2026 to 2027

This exciting joint project with Macmillan Cancer, Luton Council and key partners will take the insights and understanding from the first phase and bring about change within the local system and amongst communities to improve cancer outcomes.

We are thrilled to work directly with the several communities and their residents to improve outcomes for breast, bowel and cervical cancer screening outcomes. The Phase One research evidence will be used to inform and enhance patient services for Luton’s most affected communities during Phase Two.

We will be employing two Macmillan Cancer Engagement Officers to continue this important work with our communities.

Women's Health Self Love event

When: 16 May 2026

Our team supported the Women’s Health Self‑Love event held at St. Luke’s Church Hall, led by Cllr Maria Lovell in collaboration with the council’s Social Justice Unit. The event was funded by Luton Public Health as part of the 'Behind the Screen Breast Screening Project'. Our project manager delivered a five‑minute keynote exploring themes of self‑love, the importance of prioritising personal wellbeing, and how women often nurture others before caring for themselves. Alongside the talk, our team hosted an engagement stall, speaking with attendees and distributing resources.

Approximately 60 women attended, each receiving our custom‑made leaflets in their welcome goodie bag.

Living Well event at Luton Irish Forum

When: 16 May 2026

Our team participated as stallholders at the Living Well event hosted by the Luton Irish Forum. We engaged with residents on key topics including Breast Cancer awareness and healthy ageing, offering tailored conversations and distributing educational leaflets. The event welcomed approximately 85 attendees and received a 75% “excellent” rating, reflecting its effective blend of health, social, and cultural activities.
