Dog warden services

If your dog goes missing or you encounter a stray, contact the council or Appledown Kennels to report or collect it, ensure dogs are properly secured and identified, and direct any welfare concerns to the RSPCA.

Be a responsible cat owner

It is a legal requirement to ensure your cat is microchipped and identifiable to help reunite lost or deceased pets with their owners.

Microchipping your cat

If you live in England your cat must be microchipped and registered by the time they’re 20 weeks old. This includes cats that usually only stay indoors.

For further information please visit the GOV.UK site for information on Microchipping laws.

Deceased cats

If you have found or received a report of a dead cat on the road within your community, it’s important to try and identify the cat and their owner using a microchip scanner.

While we understand it’s heart breaking for an owner to receive news of a deceased cat, it offers the opportunity for them to gain closure.

Luton Dog Wardens scan all deceased cats that are brought in to us, and will make contact the owners wherever possible.
