Crisis Payment

What the Crisis Payment cover and does not cover, who can apply, how to apply for payments and how to make an appeal.

How to claim

To qualify for the Crisis Payments under the Crisis and Resilience Fund, you have to meet certain conditions: 

  • be 16 years or over
  • a resident of Luton
  • experiencing a financial crisis
  • have a household income under £38,000 or be in receipt of qualifying benefits
  • able to provide evidence of your: identify, address and financial situation including details of household income, savings and investments
  • willing to work with services that can help improve your financial security or prevent crisis, for example: Citizen’s Advice, Employment and Skills services, Homelessness Prevention Service
  • you will need your national insurance number to apply

It is very important that you fill in all parts of the form and give as much information as possible so we can get a full picture of your circumstances.

What you need to provide

You must complete the income and expenses form sent to you following the receipt of your application, so we can clearly see how much money you have coming in and what you spend your money on. It is very important that you tell us about everything you spend your money on including any extra expenses related to your health or disabilities.

You must provide evidence of all income and expenditure, proof of identity, proof of residence and bank statements for you and any other adults living in your household. 

We will then contact you to advise of any additional evidence we require. Your application is not complete without this information. We are unable to make a decision if this information is not provided.
