When you can claim
A crisis may occur because of:
- a disaster: for example, a fire, flood, or property damage
- an accident: an unforeseen incident creating a financial or practical crisis such as a car accident
- health emergency: which prevents you from working or causes unexpected costs
- household relationship breakdown: requiring rehousing, feeing domestic abuse, or safety related separation.
- essential item breakdown: loss of an essential item due to damage, theft or break down
- unexpected loss of income: sudden reduction in household oncome due to job loss, delay in benefit payment or reduction in working hours.
The list above is not exhaustive. Applications will be assessed based on individual circumstances
It is not intended to support:
- ongoing low income or long-term financial hardship
- costs that are not essential to basic living
- expenses that could reasonably be met through other means, statutory provision, or insurances
- those with no recourse to public funds without children or care needs
Applications to the fund will not affect your benefit status.
