How to apply for a school place

Guidance page that includes useful tips, links and contact information, as well as a video to guide you through the school application process.

Starting school or moving on to junior or high school is an important time for your child please take the time to read through the information provided below.

Here’s what you should consider before completing your application.

You MUST apply before the closing date:

  • high school applications: 31 October 2026
  • infant, primary and junior school applications: 15 January 2027

It is vital that you read the ‘how to apply for a school place’ guide. It provides detailed information on the school admissions process and how school places are allocated.

Back up preferences

It is important to state three different schools as back up preferences. Consider realistic preferences. Look up your catchment area school. Always consider putting the catchment area school as a back-up preference.

Remember: if you want your catchment area school to be considered, you must include it as one of your preferences.
