2026 school term dates
These term dates have been agreed on for community schools only. These schools will all have scheduled training days in addition to those identified on the calendar, so we'd always recommend checking the dates with your child’s school.
The governing bodies of voluntary aided schools, foundation schools, free schools and academies are responsible for setting their term dates. Therefore, you should check the dates with your child’s school.
Temporary school closures
Spring 2026 term
Starts: Monday 5 January 2026.
Half terms: Monday 16 to Friday 20 February 2026.
Ends: Friday 27 March 2026.
Easter holidays: Monday 30 March to Friday 10 April 2026.
Summer 2026 term
Starts: Monday 13 April 2026.
Half term: Monday 25 to Friday 29 May 2026.
Ends: Friday 17 July 2026 for pupils, however, there is a training day for teachers on Monday 20 July 2026.
Summer holidays: Monday 20 July to Monday 31 August 2026.
Autumn 2026 term
Starts: Tuesday 1 September 2026.
Half term: Monday 26 October to Friday 30 October 2026.
Ends: Friday 18 December 2026.
Christmas holidays: Monday 21 December 2026 to Friday 1 January 2027.
