School admissions: supporting documents and choosing preferences

Understand how to choose your school preferences, what information and documents you’ll need, applying on medical grounds, and what to do if you’re applying from outside Luton.

Choosing your preferences

You should make sure you have stated a first, second and third preference and have not named the same school two or three times.

You must provide documentation as proof of address, this can be:

  • Council Tax bill
  • gas or electricity bill (dated within three months)
  • TV licence (dated within six months)
  • Working Tax Credit Awards letter or Child Tax Credit Awards letter
  • Child Benefit (CH84TS form) which shows your child and the applicant at the address used on this application

If your child has a sibling who attends a preferred school

If you do not state that your child has a sibling (brother or sister) who will be attending one of your preferred school(s), your application will not be considered under the sibling criterion.

If you are applying for a junior and/or high school and your child is new to the Luton maintained schools system then you must provide a copy of your child's birth certificate with your application.

If you're applying for school outside of Luton

You should make sure you:
