Documentation required for changing your child's school
The documentation must be in the name of the person with parental responsibility making the application.
We may request the following types of documents as proof of address.
If you do not provide the relevant documentation to verify your address, this will result in a delay in processing your application if your preferred school(s) are oversubscribed.
Working Tax Credit or Child Tax Credit award letter
This must be your most recent awards letter to date. The letter must include the pages that show the name of your child.
If you have not received a recent award letter, you must get a copy by contacting:
A recent gas, water or electricity bill
The bill must be within the last three months and must show your address. Alternatively, you can provide your recent Council Tax bill which shows your address.
If you've recently moved address and do not have a utility bill, provide an exchange of contract or completion letter or tenancy agreement.
We do not accept telephone bills, credit card or bank statements as proof of address.
If your child is new to Luton or attends a school that is not maintained by us
You'll need to provide a copy of their birth certificate. If you do not provide the relevant documentation to verify your child’s date of birth, this will result in a delay in processing your application.
The Admissions team will not be responsible for the safe return of original documents submitted by parents.
Additional information for in-year applications
You must complete an additional application form if you're applying for any of the following schools:
- The Chalk Hills Academy
- The Linden Academy
- The Stockwood Park Academy
- Cardinal Newman Catholic School
- Leagrave Primary School
- Sacred Heart Primary School
- St Josephs Primary School
- St Margaret of Scotland Primary School
- St Martin de Porres Primary School
- Someries Infant School and Early Childhood Education Centre
You can get the form directly from the school.
The completed form must be returned directly to the relevant school.
If you're applying for a place at a Luton Catholic school
You will also need to complete the supplementary form (attached to the main application form) and return it, along with your child’s original Baptismal certificate to the relevant school.
