Luton Rising presents Party in the Park, Kaiser Chiefs, Saturday 12 September at Stockwood Park. Tickets go on sale 8 June at 10am on Ticketmaster

One of Britain's most celebrated live bands, Kaiser Chiefs, will headline a landmark community celebration in Stockwood Park as Luton prepares to mark 150 years since becoming a borough. This event has been made possible through headline sponsorship from the council’s airport company, Luton Rising.

Luton Rising presents: Party in the Park promises to be one of the biggest celebrations in the town's recent history, bringing together music, culture, local talent, community groups and residents current and former for a once-in-a-generation event celebrating the people, stories and communities that have shaped Luton over the past century and a half.

While Kaiser Chiefs will provide the incredible soundtrack to the evening's headline celebrations, the event is about even more than live music. The one-day festival will shine a spotlight on the town's communities, culture and creativity, with local performers, organisations and partners playing a key role throughout the wider celebration.

Councillor Basit Mahmood, portfolio holder for town centre regeneration and inclusive growth, said: "Luton 150: Party in the Park is a celebration of everything that makes our town special – our people, our diversity, our creativity and our sense of community. We're delighted to welcome Kaiser Chiefs as part of this landmark occasion - there's no band better for our Party in the Park. We look forward to bringing residents and visitors together for what will be a truly memorable event."

Councillor Javeria Hussain, vice-chair of Luton Rising, said: “We are delighted to be the headline sponsor for such a momentous event in Luton’s anniversary year. Our backing for community events is one of the ways we thank everyone for supporting our airport and we can’t wait to see everyone from across Luton come together to celebrate the town’s history and look forward to the future.”

Tickets for Luton Rising presents: Party in the Park go on general sale on Monday 8 June at 10am here and will go quickly, powered by Ticketmaster. Marketing and promotion for the event is being supported by Neste Live!, a Live Nation company.
