Hat Gardens

Hat Gardens is Luton town centre’s first pocket park, offering a green riverside space with amphitheatre seating, areas for small events and performances, and limited capacity for street food trailers.

Hat Gardens is Luton town centre’s first pocket park, offering a newly created green space with a stepped grassy terrace that leads down to the River Lea. The park provides 155 square metres of amphitheatre style seating, making it ideal for small community events.

An elevated area is available for live music and performances, and additional space to the north can accommodate up to four street‑food trailers, creating a welcoming place for visitors to relax and enjoy the waterside setting.

  • Two 32‑amp outlet sockets for commercial entertainment equipment
  • Ample street lighting, including integrated handrail lighting
  • Home to Luton’s well‑known pink flamingo installations
  • Vehicle access available at the rear of the site via Bute Street

Food trailer spaces can only be booked as part of a larger organised event. Each trailer must be no more than 2340 mm long, and electricity is not provided for trailer use.

Community / charity events charges

£28.00 booking fee (for up to 7 consecutive days). Plus £26.00 per day for use of the electricity, if required. (Please note there is no electricity available for food vendors.)
