Leisure, activity and sports clubs and centres in Luton ranging from angling to zumba.

Free or low cost activities in Luton

Being active and reducing the amount of time spent sitting is achievable for everyone, and activity can look different depending on your interests.

To feel the benefits, aim to build more movement into your day and work towards 150 minutes of moderate activity each week. This could include:

  • joining a gym or local club
  • walking
  • cycling

Many options are free or low‑cost, and the Be Active activity finder can help you locate activities near you that match your interests.

Luton Sport and Physical Activity Network

The Luton Sport and Physical Activity Network, run through Active Luton, brings together representatives from across the borough to support local sporting priorities. The group meets four times a year and provides small grants for talented athletes and community organisations.

During 2024 to 2025, funding will focus on helping residents with the least access to sport and physical activity. More information is available on the Be Active website.

#HealthyLuton

The #HealthyLuton campaign promotes balanced eating, regular physical activity and reduced sedentary behaviour to support long‑term wellbeing. It offers taster sessions that allow residents to try new activities and helps local clubs grow their membership.

Providers interested in offering a taster session can email:

Couch 2 Coach Luton

Couch 2 Coach Luton offers funding for people who want to gain a recognised coaching qualification and support sport or physical activity in the community. The programme aims to build a more diverse coaching workforce, particularly by supporting people from under‑served groups or those working with under‑represented communities.

Applicants choose a suitable coaching course, and support is available for anyone unsure where to start.
