Arts, culture and creativity play a key role in the Luton 2020–2040 vision, supporting a town where everyone can thrive. Taking part in creative and cultural activities helps build strong communities and supports residents to live happy, healthy and fulfilling lives.
A thriving creative sector also contributes to the local economy, connecting Luton to a national industry worth over £111 billion each year and helping children and young people develop confidence, imagination and important life skills.
Our vision for Luton is a town transformed by vibrant arts, culture and creativity that enrich the lives and opportunities of everyone who lives here.
Our mission is to support a diverse cultural offer that inspires ambition, strengthens communities and grows an inclusive creative economy where all residents can succeed.
How the strategy will shape Luton’s future
This strategy places arts, culture and creativity at the heart of Luton’s social, economic and educational development. It will guide how we:
- design and shape public spaces
- attract investment and create jobs
- build pride and partnership within communities
- grow a thriving town centre during the day and at night
- improve residents’ health and wellbeing
- support children and young people to learn, develop and thrive
The strategy is structured around three key outcomes and four priority areas that outline the steps required to deliver these ambitions.
