This policy aims to:
- make it easy for victims and survivors of domestic abuse to report abuse and feel supported, cared for, listened to and protected when they do, regardless of gender, sexuality, age, ability, ethnicity, religion, nationality or marital status
- improve the safety of people who are victims and survivors of domestic abuse
- provide services to support victims and survivors of domestic abuse that prioritise their safety in a non-judgemental and person-centred way
- enable the council to take action against perpetrators of abuse
- prevent domestic abuse through information, activism and partnership working
