This strategy covers the period 2021 to 2040 and is a key corporate strategy which will shape the transformation of our town through major investments and capital expenditure to achieve our town-wide vision for Luton 2040.
The strategy is closely aligned to the vision and our Corporate Plan and will be critical to delivering a range of ambitious projects over the next twenty years to make Luton a healthy, fair and sustainable town where everyone can thrive and no-one has to live in poverty.
This will include investment in major projects that transform the face of Luton and the lives of our residents.
The strategy will:
- prioritise investments to reshape our town centre and build a strong recovery from COVID-19
- improve our transport network to support access to jobs and increase sustainable travel
- reduce carbon emissions and improve energy efficiency to meet our commitment to be a carbon neutral town by 2040
- improve the quality of housing, schools and other buildings to support wellbeing
