Health and safety regulation

We provide support to help residents and businesses manage essential health and safety risks.

Legionella management

Legionella can become harmful in unmanaged water systems, so we help people to manage buildings and control the risk.

Legionella is a type of bacteria that occurs naturally in fresh water around the world. It can also be found in small amounts in mains water supplied to buildings.

How Legionella becomes a risk

In water systems that are not properly managed, the bacteria can grow to levels that may be harmful and can cause serious, sometimes fatal, illness.

How we manage Legionella

Fixed Assets takes all reasonable steps to manage water systems in council buildings, schools and some associated properties. We have dedicated officers who can provide advice and support with managing Legionella risks.

Your responsibilities

The control of Legionella is a legal requirement. If you have management responsibility for a workplace, you are likely to have duties to control or help control the risk of Legionella.

If you need help, Fixed Assets can provide:

  • guidance and advice
  • support with writing policies
  • help to comply with legislation
  • regular monitoring of water systems
  • awareness training
