09/08/2018 - Limbury Ward by-election

Sub heading

The by-election to elect a councillor for the Limbury Ward of Luton Borough Council will take place on Thursday 20 September 2018. The polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm.

If you live in the Limbury Ward and are currently on the register of electors you will receive a poll card by Friday 17 August 2018.  This will tell you how, where and when to vote. This card is for information only.  You can still vote without the poll card, but it is easier if you have it with you.

If you know you will not be able to get to the polling station on the election day, you can apply for a postal vote or a proxy vote. Voting by post is an easy and convenient way of voting if you are unable to get to the polling station.

You need to be on the electoral register to apply for a postal vote. You can apply on line at www.aboutmyvote.co.ukYou’ll need to complete a separate postal vote application form and send it back to us by 5pm on Wednesday 5 September 2018.

You need to sign your application form personally because the electoral registration office needs a copy of your signature for voting security reasons.

Voting by proxy just means that you appoint someone you trust to vote on your behalf. It can be useful if you fall ill and are unable to get to the polling station on election day, or if you are abroad during an election.

To vote by proxy, you’ll need to fill in an application form, print complete,  sign and return it by 5pm on Wednesday 12 September 2018 except in the case of a medical emergency where an application can be made up to 5pm on Thursday 20 September 2018. You need to sign your application form personally.

The verification and count will take place immediately following the close of poll at Luton Town Hall and the result will be published on this website.

Please return registration, postal and proxy application forms to:
