10/08/2018 - Don’t miss chance to comment on London Luton Airport expansion proposals

Sub heading

A series of 19 community consultation events on early-stage plans for the long-term expansion of London Luton Airport has now ended – but there is still a chance to view and comment on the proposals until 31 August.

Go online to www.futureluton.llal.org.uk to see the options for development from Luton Council’s airport company – London Luton Airport Ltd (LLAL) and provide feedback via an online response form.

Cllr Andy Malcolm, Chair of LLAL, said: “The consultation events have been very well attended with more than 1,500 people taking the opportunity to look at our proposals, consider how we are proposing to actively manage environmental impacts, and speak with members of our technical team.

“We have had many important conversations about how people view the success of the airport and the impacts it brings. We have already received a large number of feedback forms, and would encourage everyone to continue to send us their views by 31 August so they can be carefully considered for the future of the airport.”

LLAL believes it may be possible for London Luton Airport to handle to up 36-38 million passengers per year by 2050 from its existing single runway to meet projected demand.

The consultation documents present a number of options for how this could be achieved, and also outline LLAL’s strategic approach to minimising and mitigating environmental impacts in line with the company’s emerging sustainability strategy.

Cllr Malcolm added: “I would like to thank everyone who has attended a consultation event or otherwise viewed our proposals and provided their comments.

“At the close of the consultation period we will carefully consider all responses provided as we seek to identify the preferred scheme to take forward to Statutory Consultation next year. “
