21/01/2019 - ‘Growing Luton Together’ – come and have your say

Sub heading

A new commission dedicated to ensuring that all Luton's residents benefit from the town's growing economy begins work this week with a series of public events.

The 'Luton Inclusive Growth Commission', made up of an independent panel of experts, will be available at a dedicated stall in the Luton Mall on Friday 25 and Saturday 26 January. They are keen to hear people’s ideas and thoughts about what they want to see as Luton grows and prospers.

The Commission is chaired by Professor Sir Leslie Ebdon CBE DL, a former Vice- Chancellor of the town's University and international expert on social mobility. Les says 'The £1.5 billion of inward investment is a once in a life time opportunity to make Luton a better place in which to live and work. But we want to know what people see as ' better'. We know that many are looking for better quality jobs and that this has implications for education and skills. We are keen to know what else people think would make Luton a better place in which to live, work and play.'

Cllr Sian Timoney, portfolio holder for Transformation said: “This dedicated new, independent commission, made up of experts from business, education, housing, infrastructure, health, community and welfare sectors,  sets its sights on ensuring all Luton’s residents benefit from the town’s growing economy and they want to hear your views.

“Listening to what people have to say gives them an understanding of what needs to be done so that everyone in Luton can benefit from the major transformation taking place in the town”.

You can also have your say by visiting the Growing Luton Together website. The website will also be listing further open sessions across Luton taking place over the next few months.
