Safeguarding children

Protecting vulnerable children is everyone’s business. We all need to be alert, know what to look out for and where to go for advice. We should also have the confidence to report any acts of abuse, safe in the knowledge they'll be followed up.

Luton's Safeguarding Children Partnership (LSCP)

Working Together 2018 sets out requirements for new collaborative working arrangements for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and families which will lead to improved outcomes and experiences.

The new arrangements mean the Luton safeguarding Children Board and have been replaced by new arrangements now called Luton Safeguarding Children Partnership (LSCP).

Further information about the role of the LSCP can be found at the Luton Safeguarding Children Partnership.

As part of these new arrangements and we have worked with our Pan Bedfordshire colleagues to a create a NEW Safeguarding Bedfordshire Website which was launched on 19 July 2023.

The Bedford Borough, Central Bedfordshire and Luton Safeguarding Children Partnerships are pleased to announce the launch of their new joint Safeguarding Bedfordshire website. Having been in development for the past few months, the new website goes live on 19 July 2023.

The creation of the new Safeguarding Bedfordshire website came about at the request of our education partners during a project to make Education our fourth Safeguarding Partner. They requested a one stop shop for safeguarding. The new website will replace the existing webpages/websites hosted by the three Safeguarding Children Partnerships and sees everything rehoused in one central space.

The new website is an important tool for providing practitioners with the knowledge they need to be effective in their safeguarding responsibilities, along with being an information hub for those at risk or who have safeguarding concerns.

It is easy for users to navigate and find information quickly, has additional functionality, is responsive and compliant to international web accessibility standards. There is also a button on every page which can be used to report a safeguarding concern swiftly.

The independent chairs and scrutineers for the Safeguarding Children Partnerships Maggie Atkinson and Alan Caton said, 'We are excited about the launch of our new website, we hope everyone will be able to find information they need with ease.

The website is a great achievement in bringing together so much safeguarding content available in one place. The new website is testament to the ever-closer collaboration and cooperation between the three Safeguarding Children Partnerships.'

From the go live date there will be automatic redirection from the old web pages to the new website. Contact details for reporting abuse of adults/children and the Pan Bedfordshire Inter-Agency Child Protection Procedures remain unaltered.

Content on the new website will continue to be developed after the go live date. We would urge you to visit the website and provide any feedback to help us improve its content and functionality. Please send your comments to [email protected].
