Community Awareness Day

LUR Community Awareness Day banner

The Luton Urban Radio (LUR) Community Awareness Day is taking place on Saturday 15 December 2018 at the UK Centre for Carnival Arts.

LUR will be honoured to have your presence at what they hope will be an information packed day and they will be covering the following topics throughout the course of the day:

Youth on Youth crime

Acclaimed author Robyn Travis will be speaking about his personal journey from a troubled youth to now as an author and a reformed young man.


Aspire to Inspire will join LUR on the day and will be discussing about:

  • health
  • young female development
  • how to avoid becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training)

Yvonne Michele will also give the audience a short presentation on personal development.

Financial Planning for Non-financial people

40rty will be in attendance where they will have information and be on the ground for discussions including:

  • will writing
  • life insurance
  • retirement planning

Community Debate

The Diaspora Debating Association (DDA) will be showcasing their debating skills with a chosen topic with audience participation.

Throughout the day, LUR will be providing:

  • musical entertainment
  • raffles
  • community engagement
  • food and refreshments
  • an independent retail market

LUR will have two local upcoming artists who will also be performing throughout the day:

  • Dizzle, Luton’s premier rapper
  • Samara, Luton’s very own young songstress

This is a free event for all the community and beyond and has been part funded by Your Say Your Way community funding.
