We are encouraging Luton landlords to sign up to a new scheme recognising their professionalism and the good quality housing they offer private tenants.

What is the Luton Landlord Accreditation Scheme?

Luton Landlord Accreditation Scheme aims to provide tenants with safe, good quality accommodation. So any tenant renting from an accredited landlord can be confident they will receive an agreed level of service and the property will exceed minimum standards.

Accredited landlords are expected to inspect their properties every 3 months to ensure the standards are maintained. A ‘Template Inspection Form’, which can be used by landlords for their inspections, can be found in the download section at the bottom of this page.

Advantages of the Landlord Accreditation Scheme

The Luton Landlord Accreditation Scheme seeks to recognise and reward landlords who manage their property well and achieve a good standard of repair.

Apart from understanding how to be a good landlord and being recognised as such, other advantages include less chance of statutory action by the council, an increase in market share and a lower turnover of tenants owing to improved housing conditions.

What it means for tenants

Tenants will also benefit by knowing that renting from an accredited landlord means the property will be in good condition and the tenancy will be managed to a good standard.

Joining the scheme

All good landlords and good letting agents are being encouraged to join. The scheme was launched in April 2011. Good landlords with Houses in Multiple Occupation are also encouraged to join.
