Luton Borough Council

British Sign Language Service

We are offering a new sign language initiative to help Luton's deaf community access council services

A British sign language (BSL) Interpreter will be available at the customer services centre in the Town Hall on the first Tuesday of every month from 9am to 12 noon to help customers get information and advice on council-related enquires.

The initiative has been set up to benefit the deaf community in Luton as part of our commitment to improving access to all its residents.

There's no need to make an appointment. Customers can just drop in.

We are also offering additional BSL interpreter sessions for any deaf resident that is eligible for adult social care services. These sessions are on the first and third Wednesday of each month from 10am to 12noon, where a BSL interpreter will be available to discuss care options as well as specific equipment that the customer might be entitled to.

The adult social care BSL sessions can be accessed through the council’s referral management team - email: [email protected], telephone 01582 415015.
