Lead local flood authority

Our new duties as a LLFA include:

• Flood investigations.
• Register of flood risk features.
• Approve sustainable drainage systems (SuDS): Create a local flood risk management strategy.
• Designation: powers to designate structures and features that affect flooding requiring the owner to seek consent from the authority to alter, remove or replace them.
• Consenting: undertake consenting of works on ordinary water courses (Main rivers remain the responsibility of the Environment Agency).
