Special educational needs advisory teachers (3-16 years)

Formerly known as the Learning Support Service and Early Years Advisory Teachers.

 

 

 

What do the Special Educational Needs Advisory Teachers service offer schools?

  • Raising the attainment and achievement of pupils with SEN
  • Attendance at School Liaison Meetings
  • Target setting and problem solving with staff to support and improve practice
  • Support for Curriculum accessibility; differentiation, learning styles, assisted technology and the learning environment
  • Supporting schools with their applications for access arrangements
  • Individual pupil casework; observing and assessing the needs of the pupil and providing advice on teaching and learning strategies
  • Supporting transition arrangements across all key stages
  • Encouraging wider outcomes for pupils with SEND
  • Building positive relationships, and inclusion in all aspects of school life such as attendance at clubs
     Advice on the use of the Pupil Premium
  • Developing teaching and learning approaches for vulnerable pupils
  • Supporting planning and drop-in sessions for staff.

Developing the skills of the SENCO/Inclusion Manager

  • Providing training and support for new and existing SENCOS/INCOS
  • Auditing SEND systems in preparation for OFSTED
  • Facilitating Inclusion Manager/ SENCO meetings for school partnerships
  • Working with SENCOS/INCOs to focus on early identification, Observation, assessment, planning and strategies to meet the needs of SEND
  • Data analysis in order to promote whole school best SEND practice
  • Critical friend through statutory assessment and review process
  • Identification of appropriate intervention programmes and making the most out of Pupils Progress Meetings
  • Advising on the use of assessment tools

Who are we?

The team consists of 6 SEN Advisory Teachers.
 
All of the teachers are well qualified and highly experienced in supporting children with a wide range of difficulties and/or disabilities.
 
Traded Service
This SEN Advisory Teacher service is available as a Traded Service for academies and free schools in Luton, as well as to schools beyond Luton and private schools.
 
We offer bespoke training on a wide range of educational needs.  Further training tailored to your school’s needs available on request.
