Local government election 2019 results

The 2019 local elections took place on Thursday 2 May 2019.

The votes were counted and the results published.

The Labour party retains control of the council and the complete breakdown by party is as follows:

  • Labour - 32 councillors
  • Lib Dem - 12 councillors
  • Conservative - 4 councillors
The overall turnout was 29.37%.
The number of votes cast was 42,904.
