If you wish to marry in England or Wales you may do so either by civil or religious ceremony.

From 2 March 2019 there will be changes to the marriage regulations following the implementation of the second phase of the Immigration Act 2014 (Sham).

The act introduces a referral and investigation scheme for citizens from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland who wish to marry within England and Wales.

Follow this link for information on how the regulation changes will affect you.

Luton Registration Service - marriages, civil partnerships and fees

The Town Hall

Luton Registration Service’s premier ceremony venue, ‘The Town Hall’ is located in the heart of Luton.  It is a grade II listed neoclassical style building that boasts many original art deco features, a large number of which recall images from the town’s coat of arms: the wheatsheaf, the rose and the thistle.

Entrance to the ceremony room is via the original front entrance of the town hall, where the beautiful marble staircase that leads up to the first floor ceremony room will provide the perfect backdrop to your wedding photographs. The marriage ceremony room is tastefully decorated with wood panelling and is furnished with heavy oak furniture.

Facilities include:

  • up to 80 guests
  • parking for the bridal car in front of the Town Hall steps
  • use of the balcony for photographs (by prior arrangement)
  • disabled access
  • toilet facilities
  • CD player
  • use of the Mayor’s Parlour for pre marriage checks
  • choice of room layout

The ceremony

You'll also have the option of choosing your declarations, exchanging rings and a choice of ring words. This ceremony is for the bride and groom and a limited number of guests only.

  • occupation
  • marital status
