Youth Offending Service, beige wash

This page talks about some of the support we provide for families, please contact our parenting coordinator via the details below for further information.

Who is it for?
We support any family, or individual family member, of a young person involved with Luton Youth Offending Service, the Youth Inclusion Programme or Project Turnaround.  The young person and/or parent may or may not be subject to a court order.

How do we help?
Two people will visit you at home.  One of the team will ask questions that will help you think about how family members manage different situations.  The questions will also help you to explore each other’s viewpoints.  The other member of the team will listen, and will from time to time join in the discussion and share their thoughts about what they have heard.

What do people talk about?
People talk about all different things.  Some talk about how they are getting on as a family, they may talk about who is involved in their family and how people manage to deal with different situations that arise.  Others talk about particular problems, some talk about their relationship with each other, for example if they are having difficulty talking to each other or if they feel unhappy or stressed by a particular situation.

Who can come to the session?
You can come on your own or bring another family member or friend with you. Sometimes we may ask for specific family members to attend.

How long will the sessions last?
Each session will last about one hour and will be held weekly or fortnightly.  The total number of sessions will be agreed with you.

What happens if I am unable to attend a session?
If you are unable to attend a session we would appreciate you letting us know at least 48 hours in advance in order that we can make alternative arrangements. If you are required to attend a session as part of a court order you may be breached and returned to court.

Confidentiality
All personal information shared will be kept confidential within the Youth Offending Service unless there we deem there to be a risk of harm to someone in or out of the family or we were made aware of a criminal act or we feel that to disclose information would prevent offending.
