Two stars of July’s Love Luton 2012 Festival will lead the line-up on the Luton in Harmony entertainment stage at Luton’s Diamond Jubilee celebration in St George’s Square on Sunday 3 June.
Former X Factor star Bradley Johnson and the up-and-coming Irish vocalist Aisling O’Reilly have both scheduled slots on the Luton in Harmony stage which will showcase local talent from 11am until 5pm.
The Diamond Jubilee celebration also incorporates the Luton International Food Festival, offering a diverse range of the worldwide culinary tastes to be found in Luton.
The event is being funded by private sector businesses supporting the Love Luton campaign to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s 60 years on the throne.
Cllr Hazel Simmons, Leader of Luton Borough Council, said: “The Diamond Jubilee celebration really kicks off a superb summer of entertainment in Luton.
“It’s great that not only will we be sampling the finest foods available in our town and hearing many of our talented diverse performers but also getting a taste of the superb sounds to come when The Wanted and Olly Murs perform in Luton on 6 and 7 July.”
The Luton in Harmony stage will be hosted by Tropical FM DJ Lee Drummond and also features the Irish Pipe Band, High Town Strummers, Gospel Choir, Dennis Salsa Dancer, Clara Byrne, Shane Billington, Ryan Prazer, Bati Ghor, Andra Massiah, Bloodshed, Free Your Style, Sounds Of Real Emotions and Shabby Tinkerz (programme subject to change).
Meanwhile, talented local chefs and Levi Roots, the musician and founder of the Reggae Reggae sauce brand, will be showing how to cook their top dishes. Also look out for free tasters and great promotional offers.
The day is part of the national 'Big Lunch' event. Chairs and tables will be provided in the square, so come along, enjoy the food on offer or bring a picnic and be part of Luton's own giant street party.
Linsey Frostick, chair of the Love Luton working group, said:
“This is a great opportunity for Luton to come together and celebrate this milestone in our recent history. It also allows us to promote our local businesses and talent and help Luton’s economy to continue to thrive and prosper.
“By continuing to work together we will ensure that the town gets the positive recognition it deserves, both regionally and nationally.”
