TV personality and award winning chef Levi Roots has come on board as a platinum sponsor and ambassador for the Love Luton 2012 Festival.
The Jamaican born British entrepreneur, chef and musician will display his mastery of Caribbean cuisine throughout the four day festival – bringing to life his infectious brand ethos of ‘Putting Music in your Food’ with live cooking and music on stage and special ‘Dance Wicked’ showcases and competitions.
A key highlight will be the Levi Roots’ Reggae Reggae Land in Wardown Park offering inspirational chats with the popular chef, interactive Q+A, book-signings and culinary tasters.
With something for everyone in the family, children and adults alike can enjoy a range of tailored activities and chill-out zones throughout the area, including the Caribbean barbecue beach and lots of fun challenges with goodies to be won.
Levi will also have special performances on the Popes Meadow stage on the Friday and Saturday nights.
The reggae musician became a household name after successfully pitching his spicy Reggae Reggae Sauce on BBC’s Dragons’ Den in 2007. Reggae Reggae Sauce is now stocked in supermarkets up and down the country amongst a host of other sunshine-flavour foods from the Levi Roots brand, while Levi’s hit BBC cooking show, ‘Caribbean Food Made Easy’ is still seen around the world.
Levi kick started his support of the Love Luton 2012 Festival at a special event at the University of Bedfordshire recently where he talked to students about his life experiences and the choices he made that got him to where he is today. This was followed up by a guest performance at the recent Love Luton Diamond Jubilee Celebration in St George’s Square.
Speaking at his recent visit to Luton, Levi said: “I am delighted to help welcome the Olympic Torch to Luton. The Love Luton Festival is an exciting family event with something for everyone, and as such beautifully represents the same inclusive spirit that Levi Roots’ and Reggae Reggae Sauce are truly about in every sense…. One Love.”
Cllr Hazel Simmons, Leader of Luton Borough Council, said: “We are absolutely delighted that someone as huge as Levi Roots is on board for the Love Luton Festival. He is such an inspirational person with an amazing story to tell and this has added a whole new dimension to what is already going to be an incredible weekend in Luton.”
Levi Roots joins the University of Bedfordshire as platinum sponsors of the festival, while Heart FM, Motorbodies, The Mall and Walls have signed up to the gold packages. Noble Solicitors are the official legal sponsors of the weekend.
