Active Luton is encouraging residents to pop along to Lewsey Sports Park next Saturday (20 October) anytime between 9:45am and 6pm for free squash coaching and taster sessions.
Luton & Dunstable Squash Club is hosting the event which will include a mixture of beginner, intermediate and advanced coaching for both juniors and adults.
England Squash and Racketball, the sport’s national governing body, will be providing experienced coaches to run the event which will also include coaching workshops and professional exhibitions.
People can drop in at any time throughout the day, but there will also be specific sessions to cater for certain age groups, experience levels and abilities.
As part of the event, there will be a free ‘squashercise’ session between 2-3pm. Squashercise is a female-only activity class based on squash-specific fitness, movements and core skills.
Helen Barnett, Chief Executive at Active Luton, said: “Squash is a really fun sport that does wonders for your fitness, stamina, strength and agility. It also helps develop skill and strategy while being very effective for weight loss.
“The squash facilities at Lewsey Sports Park are second to none and I really hope Saturday’s event will not only help enhance the skills of our already talented competitive squash players, but also encourage a number of new players to take up the sport socially.”
Cllr Mohammed Ashraf, Portfolio Holder for sports and arts, said: “The Council and Active Luton provide a number of modern sports facilities such as Lewsey Sports Park to make it easier for people to live healthier and more active lives.
“Whether you’re a first time, returning or regular player, I encourage you to come down and have a go. Bookings are not required so just turn up and join in the fun.”
Squash rackets will be provided. For more information, including a full programme of the day’s activity, go to
