Luton residents are invited to get off their sofas and onto the sports fields this weekend to take part in Luton4Life.
A variety of free sporting events is taking place in Active Luton venues across town on Saturday and Sunday (21 and 22 July), and everybody is welcome to get involved.
Activities include a football tournament, cricket skills workshops, netball, badminton, a family fun run, a family golf event and petanque (a game similar to bowls).
There will be plenty for younger children too with early years activities taking place alongside a health and wellbeing road show.
Sian Pearce from Sponsors London Luton Airport said: “The event aims to promote a healthy lifestyle including diet and fitness, and to give families a chance to take part in something together. We keep hearing comments about what the Olympic legacy will be, and the partners hope this event will encourage our community to think about how they can make a difference to the lives of themselves and their families, as well as celebrating the Olympic and Paralympic Games.”
Cllr Mohammed Ashraf, portfolio holder for sports and arts, said: “With the Olympics just around the corner, interest in sports and fitness is at a high. I’d really like to encourage everyone to take advantage of the fantastic activities taking place in Luton during Luton4Life.
“Whether it’s a sport you love, something you’ve always wanted to try or even something you had never heard of; get involved, meet new people and have a good time!”
