The road safety plan 2011 -2015 sets out how we presently tackle the issue of road safety in Luton and more importantly, what we intend to do to reduce accidents and casualties in the town

In 2011 Luton’s third local transport plan was published which sets out the strategic direction for Transport related issues in Luton. 

The road safety plan has been developed to set out how road safety will be delivered in Luton until 2015.

Everyone who lives, works or travels in Luton has a part to play. 95% of road traffic accidents involve some element of human error.

Good progress has been made in reducing casualties from the 1994/98 average; however, this reduction has slowed in recent years. A detailed study of accidents and casualties between 2004 and 2008 has been carried out and can be downloaded below.

The road safety plan has been extensively consulted upon and a report can be downloaded below.
