Town Hall
Luton Borough Council has received the official go ahead from Government to kick start the Luton Dunstable Busway (the Busway), a major council project which will allow more people to use public transport and leave their cars at home.

Running between Houghton Regis, Dunstable and Luton, the Busway is part of the Council’s commitment to improve public transport, making getting to work, going to the shops and travelling around town easier and more affordable for residents.

Providing residents with a fast, frequent and efficient alternative to travelling by car, it will also help to combat congestion and enable people to do their bit for the environment.

Easily accessible, the Busway will be within a five minute walk to more than 70,000 people, catering for an emerging growth in employment and housing in the area, when it is formally opened in 2012.

The service will be provided by specially adapted buses capable of running both on their own track and on the public roads.

This will maximise the flexibility of Busway services so they can serve a large number of destinations in the area, connecting the main housing areas within the main industrial areas, the three town centres, the rail stations and Luton airport.
